Hi, Thank you for your interest in this screen saver, I promise you, you will enjoy it. Note : VBRUN300.DLL is not included. ****** You can get it in the MSBASIC forum. Go MSBASIC Q1 : Why this screen saver is different than others ? - Because it is entirely CUSTOMISABLE. Actually, you can display any animation you want provided it has the FLI or FLC format (done by 3D STUDIO), OR your favorite BMP (your kids for instance) or DIB or RLE or AAS and much more. Customise the height and the width of your image or animation. If you have a sound board, customise it with your favorite song (Tested with Sound Blaster). If your hard disk data is so valuable, you can have your screen saver password. This password will be crypted so no sneeky people could ever see it. The date and the time can be displayed in the screen saver using the Control Panel's International format. The more colors your VGA monitor and your display board can handle , the better. Animations will have more colors and the image will be net. Gift : A hot spot detecter is offered. ------ A hotspot point can be defined (1 out of 4 : Upper left (right) corner, Lower left (right) corner.) This is used to activate quickly the screen saver. Leave the mouse 3 seconds in a corner and the screen saver will be activated. (Optional) A countdown is displayed to warn you that the screen saver will soon be activated. Q2 : Compatibility with Windows ? It needed much work in order to make a .SCR Windows format. This screen saver will be entirely compatible with Windows and it will be loaded from the Control Panel. The Screen saver setup will configure the image filename, the sound filename, the password etc ... It has been tested on Windows 3.1, 3.11 and Windows NT 3.5 Workstation. The only difference with NT 3.5, is that the password configuration is handled by NT and not by the screen saver itself. The screen saver password will be the same as the login one. The reason why Microsoft has done that, is to forbid programs to steal the password in the background by intercepting the keyboard. Q3 : I am anxious to install it ! How ? Simple. from your File manager click on the INSTALL.EXE program provided. It will install the following files 1. FADY.SCR the screen saver and the configuration utility will be installed into your Windows directory. If your Windows is a remote Window or a server version, the FADY.SCR should be in the relevant directory. The Control Panel loads all the *.SCR found in the Windows directory. 2. ANIMATE.DLL AAPLAY.DLL VBRUN300.DLL --> this file could be found in MSBASIC forum on Compuserve These 3 files should be in the \Windows\system directory or equivalent if your Windows is on the network. 3. You have to configurate it before launching it : 3.1 Double Click on the Control Panel in the Group called Main. 3.2 Double Click on the Desktop Icon. 3.3 In the screen saver section you should find Fady's scr-saver and select it. 3.4 Before clicking on test, you should define your screen saver. 3.41 Click on Setup. 3.42 Locate your animation or image. 3.43 Locate you sound file. 3.44 Define the Width and Height (This will be done by trial and error) Best results for 3D STUDIO is the 320 wide by 200 high. 3.45 Change password if you feel having one (Optionnal). 3.46 Specify if you want the date and the time displayed 3.47 Click on Save and Exit 3.5 Now you can test it by clicking on the Test button. 3.6 Enjoy. 4. The animation or image will be centered at the beginning, and it will change location every ten seconds. Q4 : How can I stop the screen saver ? Just move the mouse or press any key. If the password is enabled, you will be asked to enter it. The password screen is system modal : This means that the whole system is inaccesible unless you enter the correct password. Alt Tab and Control+Escape are disabled. Q5 : In case I forgot the password ? No big deal. The password is saved in an encrypted format in a separate file called SCRSAVE.PWD Just erase it. Do not tell people around you about this file. If somebody tries to read that file, He/She will not be able to read it. NB : The password does not work with NT. NT refuses creating passwords for screen savers. The password remains the login one. Q6 : I want an animation but I do not know how to do it. Can you do it for me ? Of Course. E-Mail me your company's logo or send me by mail a draft of your animation. This service is an extra. Consider between $50 and $400 depending on the amount of work required. Q7 : Is this screen saver a shareware ? Yes. And that means that you are allowed to use it for two weeks trial and remove it if you do not like it. Q8 : I want it where can I buy it ?
